Description
Teams build a model or create a drawing of one of the mountains from the UK. The activity includes descriptions of the mountains including scientific, mythological and geographical facts to base their work on. At the end of the activity the teams must try and sell their mountain to a giant, who is looking to move to the UK! Also includes maths data collections sheets and Invertebrate ID sheet.
Learning Objectives
Geography: Name and locate key topographical features in the UK including mountains.
English: Increasing their familiarity with a wide range of books, including fairy stories, myths and legends, and retelling some of these orally.
The construction of an advert using persuasive language, with appropriate structure, vocabulary and the use of key features from the text.
Science: Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited.
Identify and classify rocks.
Maths: Converting tally charts to bar graphs.
Resources: One of each of the mountain sheets printed out, shower curtains and natural materials or chalk and a variety of objects that can be sued for construction, whiteboards and pens.
