A fun experiment where teams create their own mud soup. Through a process of investigation they identify soluble and insoluble ingredients, before filtering their soup and leaving it for a week. Activity and science sheets are included.
Learning Objectives
Science: Know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution, and describe how to recover a substance from a solution.
Demonstrate that dissolving, mixing and changes of state are reversible changes.
Resources: 4 funnels, coffee filters, 4 containers for making solution, 4 clear containers for filtering solution into, mud soup sheets, 4 pencils, 4 clip boards, water, access to soil and other natural ingredients.
