Description
Children work in teams or groups to create a profile of a tree or shrub in the school grounds. If the grounds around the school allow they are encouraged to document two trees each. Once back in school they can research which tree they have been looking at. Includes science activity sheets for children.
Learning Objectives
Science: Gathering, recording, classifying and presenting data in a variety of ways to help in answering questions.
Explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in their local and wider environment.
Resources: 8 x tree profile sheets, 4 x clipboards, soft pencils and/or crayons (for 4 teams, more for smaller group work, Ipads to photograph trees (optional).
