Teams design a parachute that can safely land an egg! The activity sheet offers three options in design of parachutes to help teams decide how they are going to construct their parachute. Science activity sheets included.
Learning Objectives
Science: Explain that unsupported objects fall towards the earth because of the force of gravity between the Earth and the falling object.
Compare how things move on different surfaces.
Identify the effects air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces.
D&T: Use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups.
Evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.
History: The study of a significant turning point in British history.
Resources: A variety of different materials e.g. plastic bags, cotton, paper etc., tape, scissors, string, eggs x 4, thin cardboard or disposable cups for egg harness, activity sheets x 4, clip boards and pens x 4.
