Description
Teams design and construct a simple balloon rocket, after trying out their rockets, they have the option to redesign their rocket to see if they can get it to go further and faster. Science activity sheet is included.
Learning Objectives
Science: Identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces.
D&T: Use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups.
Evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.
Resources: Balloons – round and long, balloon pumps or bicycle pumps one per team, straws, tape, string – nylon is best up to 7m per team, thin card, activity sheets, clip boards and pens x 4, meter rulers or tape measures.
